December Snow Storm - 2008

Our big snow storm came in three waves of snow. At first we were excited because we actually got snow. We definately got our White Christmas we were always dreaming of and never thought was possible here in Western Washington. This first picture was taken Sunday, January 14th, just after our first wave of snow. Brooke was having fun in the snow that day. It may not look like much, but it was enough to give the kids a 2 hour delayed start on the 15th, which meant no half day kindergarten for Brooke.This third picture is of our second wave of snow on Wednesday, December 17th. Again, it may not look like much to us Wisconsinites, but it was enough to cancel school on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This was a great way start to Christmas break the follwing week.Our third wave started the night of Saturday, December 20th. In the 1st 24 hours we got six inches. The night of the 21st, when this picture was taken, we had nine inches on the ground. About another inch and a half fell after that.This is how high the snow was on Luke's car on the night of the 21st. Crazy for a city that has only a handful amount of snow plows. Seattle even only had a total of 23 plows (for a population of over 550,000). Stores ran out of deicer and shovels. Crazy!
While I definately miss the snow now, it did help the holidays go by better for me. It didn't make me miss home as much, which was much appreciated! My dream of having a White Christmas in Washington was fulfilled.....now if only we can have that when we move to North Carolina....
